Hesse: Corona incidence in Hesse has fallen further

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - The corona incidence in Hesse has continued to fall in a weekly comparison. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the number of reported new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days on Friday was 276.7. A week ago the value was 375.9. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,399,037 corona infections in Hesse have been included in the statistics, as reported by the RKI. This means an increase of 18,062 within one week.

It should be noted with the data that the incidence does not currently provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts assume a high number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

According to the information, the number of deaths in Hesse in connection with Covid-19 was 10,883 on Friday. This means a plus of 60 within a week. In which cases Covid-19 was the main cause of death and in which the patients died of other diseases and were also infected with the coronavirus is not usually clear from the information provided by the hospitals.

The hospitalization incidence continued to decline and was 3.59 on Friday, according to the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs. This value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants were newly admitted to hospitals with a corona infection within seven days. A week ago it was 4.26.

According to data from the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (Divi), 91 adult Covid 19 patients were treated in the intensive care units of the Hessian clinics. 31 of them had to be ventilated.
