Offenbach (dpa/lhe) - People in Hesse have to get used to the sun and the heat at the beginning of the week. Maximum temperatures between 31 and 36 degrees are expected on Monday, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced in Offenbach in the morning. It is therefore usually sunny to clear. The hottest day of the week will be Tuesday: Then the maximum values will rise to 35 to 39 degrees, in the Rhine-Main area and on the Bergstrasse up to 40 degrees are possible.
The weather service set the forest fire risk index for large areas in the south of the country to the highest level 5 on Tuesday. There is a "very high" risk of forest fires there. Level 4 applies to most of the other regions in Hesse, i.e. a “high” risk. The medium warning level 3 only applies in parts of the Fulda district.
According to the DWD, it will be cloudy on Wednesday. A few showers or thunderstorms are possible from the west, and there may also be heavy rain and squalls locally. The maximum values are expected to be between 29 and 36 degrees. On Thursday night, the showers will move to the northeast. Clouds and temperatures between 26 and 32 degrees are expected on Thursday.
