Hesse: Police find motionless man with fire alarm

Frankfurt (dpa/lhe) - When a fire alarm was triggered by burnt food, the police found a motionless man in a Frankfurt apartment. A neighbor had alerted the officials on Sunday morning because he had noticed the smell of burning and the alarm of the fire alarm from the apartment building, the police said. One of the police officers was able to see the 47-year-old lying motionless on the ground through a window. The police officers then kicked in the door. Previously, no one had responded to ringing and loud knocking.

Due to the heavy smoke, only firefighters with the appropriate equipment were able to enter the smoking apartment. After a brief examination by the emergency services, the 47-year-old declined all further medical measures. After it turned out that burnt food on the stove had led to the smoke and the apartment was well ventilated, the tenant was able to stay in the apartment, it was said. One of the police officers inhaled smoke during the operation and later complained of dizziness and nausea - he had to stop working.
