Hessen: Days of Industrial Culture celebrate anniversary

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - The "Days of Industrial Culture" are taking place for the 20th time this summer. Between September 3rd and 11th, 128 events are planned in 37 municipalities throughout the Rhine-Main area, as the organizers reported on Tuesday in Frankfurt.

Since 2003, the series of events has "expanded enormously in terms of time, space and topic," explains Sabine von Bebenburg, managing director of the cultural region that organizes the series. In the beginning it was one day, in 2005 the duration was increased to four days, since 2014 the series has been nine days. The idea is to make industrial heritage sites in the metropolitan region that are otherwise inaccessible accessible to a wide audience.

The 2022 program of events has the motto "Future(s) forms" and deals with digitization and climate change, among other things. "In addition to exciting insights into industrial design, sustainable construction or plastic cycles, tours of port and industrial facilities, technology parks and energy centers illustrate what the way to the future can look like and what lively industrial culture has to do with everyday life," announced the organizer.
