Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Bahn is building a new station in Rövershagen

Rövershagen/Berlin (dpa/mv) - Deutsche Bahn has started building a new train station in Rövershagen (Rostock district). The new stop "Karls Erlebnishof" (Purkshof) is the 180th train station in the country, Deutsche Bahn announced on Monday in Berlin. The station should be ready by spring.

Economics Minister Reinhard Meyer (SPD) welcomed the expansion: "With the new train station, the offer in rural areas will be further improved for many travellers." According to him, both locals and guests benefit from this. "We are strengthening the railways in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania again. The new train station in Rövershagen is the next step," added Alexander Kaczmarek, DB Group Representative for Berlin, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

According to the company, the platform will be 100 meters long and will be accessible via a ramp. The construction is part of the railway's station offensive, as part of which new stops have been examined and selected together with states and municipalities since 2015.
