Schwerin (dpa/mv) - In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, significantly more people insured by the Barmer health insurance company were given sick leave over the course of the year in 2022 than in the previous year. As the cash register announced on Monday, there were most cases with 260 sick leave per 1000 employees in December. In the same month of the previous year there were 118. The national average in December 2022 was 231 sick leave per 1000 employees.

As the Barmer evaluation also shows, last year the proportion of sick notes with a corona diagnosis in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was significantly higher in all months than in 2021. While back then in July only 0.7 percent of all sick notes related to corona this was the case for 16.3 percent in July 2022. The highest proportion of corona-related sick leave was in the north-east in March 2022 at 24.3 percent.
