Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Fake branded fashion sold: Suspect convicted

Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - With the help of a test buyer, the police caught a seller of counterfeit clothing and fake accessories. As a police spokeswoman said on Friday, boxes of such goods were confiscated from the 34-year-old's apartment in Neubrandenburg. The approximately 500 jackets, trousers, T-shirts and hats had the logos of well-known brand manufacturers, but these were completely counterfeit. So-called cybercrime specialists from the criminal police had tracked down the suspect.

The test buyer of an affected company had previously ordered goods via the Internet sales platform and promptly received fake goods. The police investigated. It is still unclear where the clothes came from and to what extent the accused still had accomplices. Possible backers are still being sought. It will be determined on suspicion of commercial fraud and violation of trademark law.

The police pointed out that one should also exercise caution with job offers that promise easy, quick money. The mere receipt of parcels, which are then forwarded under a different label, is also a punishable offence. For brand companies, this would result in “immense financial damage every year.”
