Rostock (dpa/mv) - The police in Rostock are looking for jewelry thieves who stole a valuable ring from a jeweler on Wednesday. As a police spokeswoman said on Thursday, the incident happened in a shop on the Neuer Markt opposite the town hall. The value of the ring made of precious metal was given at an estimated 40,000 to 60,000 euros.
According to previous investigations, a man was only shown several pieces of jewelry by an employee. Then he went out for a moment and fetched an acquaintance who asked him to show him some rings and other pieces of jewellery. Suddenly one of the men grabbed and both fled with the loot. A witness followed the men for a while and saw them drive away in a car. It is said to have had a Rostock license plate with the letters HRO.
The search for the car and the men had so far been unsuccessful, said the police spokeswoman. But one hopes for clues to the approximately 1.75 meter tall perpetrators. They are said to have both been wearing blue jeans and a green and dark jacket.
