Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Martin fears less influence on EU funding

Brussels (dpa/mv) - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Europe Minister Bettina Martin (SPD) fears that EU funding will be more centralized in the future and that Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will have fewer opportunities to influence how the funds are used. The programs are safe until the end of the current funding period in 2027, but there will be corresponding discussions for the time after that, said Martin on Monday at the start of a two-day trip by the state cabinet to Brussels. The topic will play a role in the talks. In this funding period alone, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will receive 1.9 billion euros in support from the EU, including for the promotion of business settlements and for agriculture.
