Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Minister Meyer renewed appeal to save energy

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Economics Minister Reinhard Meyer (SPD) is convinced that saving energy is the order of the day. "We all together have to save energy wherever possible. In this way we are helping Germany to become less dependent on Russian energy imports more quickly. Everyone can make a contribution," emphasized the minister on Tuesday in Schwerin after a consultation with representatives from associations, companies, trade unions and energy suppliers.

The ministry also announced that the regular meeting also served to prepare for the energy summit on August 22 in Rostock. The conference in the Hanseatic city was scheduled by the state government as a reaction to the looming energy crisis as a result of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. In Rostock, among other things, the security of the gas supply through the construction of liquid gas terminals near Lubmin, the accelerated expansion of renewable energies in the country and state aid for citizens, companies and public utilities in view of the enormous price increases for gas, oil and electricity should be discussed.
