Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Pröger shoots Hansa out of the crisis: "We had a good day"

Kai Pröger is a stroke of luck for FC Hansa Rostock. The bustling striker scored twice in the 3-0 win in Regensburg and has already scored six goals this season.

Regensburg/Rostock (dpa/mv) - The smallest was already the biggest. Kai Pröger shot FC Hansa Rostock out of the earnings crisis with two goals in the 3-0 (2-0) win at Jahn Regensburg and prevented the traditional Mecklenburg club from sliding down the table in the 2nd Bundesliga. "We had a good day. We accepted every duel and didn't give anything away. We have to reward ourselves with goals. We did that this time," said the 1.72 meter tall attacker after the Hanseatic League's first away win since August.

It was of course a particularly good day for Pröger, perhaps even his best in the service of the last East German champion and cup winner. The 30-year-old striker, who moved to the coast on a free transfer from league rivals SC Paderborn in the summer, now has six goals on his job reference. There are also three assists. It's hard to imagine where Hansa would be if the blond boy didn't use the net so often.

And Pröger also hits the nail on the head. The double pack in Regensburg was ripe for a textbook on shooting technique. That didn't surprise the main actor, however. "I think I know my quality. That's the shooting. When I get the shot so freely, I know that he comes dangerously. When he then goes in, that's of course particularly nice," said the native of Wilhelmshaven in the ARD.

Beautiful goals are remembered. But what is more important is that they score points. And since Pröger's second brace for the troubled Rostock, who had not won four games before, is almost worth its weight in gold. Jens Härtel knows that too. "We are incredibly happy and happy that we were able to turn things around here - and in a sovereign way," said the Hansa coach after the strong performance of his team. "We'll take the lead with the first chance and follow up. We then played very maturely and defended well," praised the 53-year-old.

The three counters are good and important for the mood, which threatened to tip over after the downward trend of the past few weeks. The danger is not over yet. In the three remaining games of the first half of the season at home against SV Sandhausen and 1. FC Nürnberg as well as at Eintracht Braunschweig, more points must be scored in order to be able to go into the long winter break without worries.
