Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Schweriner SC before cup revenge in Wiesbaden

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - A good year after the early exit in the round of 16 of the DVV Cup, the volleyball players from SSC Palmberg Schwerin have the opportunity to take revenge on Saturday (7 p.m.) at VC Wiesbaden. This time the teams meet in the quarterfinals. "This game is under completely different circumstances than last year. We really had a difficult start to the season, as a team we didn't have many opportunities to build up a lot of self-confidence and we carried a big backpack around with us," said coach Felix Koslowski.

This year, SSC is going into the cup duel "with a better feeling" thanks to four wins in five Bundesliga games. The coach didn't want to overstate the fact that Wiesbaden has only won one of five league games so far: "They're still very good opponents." Most recently, the women from Schwerin lost their strength in the 3-1 win in Suhl because three sets went into overtime.

Good from the point of view of the SSC: Captain Anna Pogany is fit and has traveled to Wiesbaden to join the team. The Mecklenburg women drove from Suhl to Hesse on Thursday to play their fifth away game in a row in two and a half weeks. Schwerin will not be playing in front of its own audience again until next Wednesday. Opponent is again the VC Wiesbaden - then in the Bundesliga.
