Just a few years ago, the US car company Ford implemented a cost-cutting program in Cologne, and the location shrank from 18,000 to just 14,000 employees. Employment could soon go down further.

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - The savings plans of the US car manufacturer Ford, which became known three weeks ago at its traditional Cologne location, could become more concrete on Tuesday. After discussions with the management, the works council invited the workforce to works meetings to provide information on the current state of affairs. Representatives of the executive floor should answer questions.

The works council announced on January 23 that the company was considering cutting up to 3,200 jobs in the cathedral city, and large parts of the development department would be affected. In total, Ford still has around 14,000 employees in Cologne.
