North Rhine-Westphalia: Death of a Covid 19 patient: Nurse in court

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - A year and a half after the death of a 52-year-old Covid 19 patient in a Neuss hospital, a nurse has to answer in court. According to the indictment, the defendant is said to have halved the dose of blood pressure medication on her own initiative and contrary to the doctor's orders in order to reduce the patient's suffering. He died a few hours later.

The trial for attempted manslaughter is scheduled to begin next Wednesday (September 7th), the Düsseldorf district court announced on Wednesday. The defendant has so far remained silent on the allegation, it said.

Because the public prosecutor's office cannot rule out that the patient would have died without the actions of the 41-year-old, he is only accused of attempted manslaughter. The court has scheduled five days of trial for the case.
