Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Düsseldorf's mayor Stephan Keller (CDU) left on Wednesday with a delegation to Ukraine to seal a new town twinning with Chernivtsi. The departure via Poland was documented by Keller's spokesman on Twitter.
According to the city, the city twinning contract is to be officially signed on Thursday. In addition, Keller wanted to visit a refugee shelter, as previously announced.
"It is important to me to see where our help has already arrived and where support is still needed," Keller was quoted as saying. Düsseldorf is also a partner city of Moscow - however, the connection was put on hold after the outbreak of war. The signs at the entrances to the city, where all partner cities are listed, have now been taken down.
