North Rhine-Westphalia: Drunk driver hits police officers in the face

Cologne-Sülz (dpa / lnw) - A drunk driver attacked and injured two police officers during a traffic check in Cologne-Sülz. He is said to have hit one in the face several times, according to the police. The 39-year-old driver was stopped by the two police officers on Tuesday night after illegally turning left in his car.

When the driver was supposed to come to the station for an alcohol test, he put up a fight. Despite the pepper spray used, he hit one of the police officers several times in the face. The officer was seriously injured. The 39-year-old then attacked the second police officer and slightly injured her. He first escaped on a bicycle and then got into a rental car. Before the car could drive off, he was arrested by arriving police officers.
