Velbert (dpa / lnw) - A 29-year-old wanted to cross the Autobahn 535 near Velbert (Mettmann district) on foot and was hit by a car in dense fog. Danger to life cannot be ruled out, the police said on Sunday. The man was drunk, according to a police spokesman.
It was initially unclear why he chose to take the highway early on Sunday morning. At the time you could only see 20 to 50 meters because of the fog. A 58-year-old could no longer avoid it with his car. The 29-year-old was caught more on the side with the fender or mirror area, and the driver drove cautiously because of the fog, said the police spokesman.
