The cause of the accident is part of the investigation - it is also about the extent to which a wheelhouse was lowered.
Already in the night of Thursday of the previous week on the Wesel-Datteln canal in Dorsten, a pushed convoy loaded with coal also hit a bridge with the wheelhouse. The skipper was also slightly injured in this accident. The canal was temporarily closed at the time. As reported by the fire brigade, the driver's cab had been torn off in the collision.
