North Rhine-Westphalia: Last generation blocked Cologne bridge and street

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - Five people from the last generation glued themselves to a bridge on the federal highway 55a and on the Straße des 17. Juni in Cologne. The exit from the city highway towards Straße des 17. Juni is temporarily closed, a police spokesman said on Monday. As soon as all three people are removed from Straße des 17. Juni, the blockage will be lifted.

Two people stuck themselves to a so-called sign bridge on the B55a, i.e. a narrow bridge over a road on which several traffic signs are mounted. The spokesman has not yet been able to say whether a short blockage is necessary to bring the two down.

The last generation announced a series of protests in Cologne and in North Rhine-Westphalia in general for Monday. Under the motto "We have to talk," they say they want to call on the mayors of the cities to "stand behind the demands of the last generation."
