North Rhine-Westphalia: Man stabs revelers on Shrove Monday in Cologne

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - A 26-year-old man was seriously injured on Shrove Monday in downtown Cologne by an unknown attacker by being stabbed with a sharp object. The act was initially preceded by a dispute with words, the police said on Tuesday. The attacker then fled with two companions. The 26-year-old, who was injured in the upper body, was also out with friends. Alerted rescue workers found him lying on the ground and drove him to a clinic. A murder commission from the Cologne Kripo is investigating on suspicion of dangerous bodily harm. The man is not in mortal danger, said a police spokesman.
