North Rhine-Westphalia: NRW-SPD made Kämmerling state manager

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - After the lost state election, the North Rhine-Westphalian SPD wants to strengthen its organizational structure for future election campaigns. The former member of the state parliament, Stefan Kämmerling, will take over the office of state manager, said NRW SPD leader Thomas Kutschaty on Monday in Düsseldorf.

Kämmerling had made a name for himself as SPD spokesman on the committee investigating the flood disaster, but narrowly missed getting back into the state parliament. Kuschaty, who is also the leader of the parliamentary group, emphasized that it was important to him that Kämmerling's expertise was not lost after leaving the state parliament.

Kämmerling (46) will be responsible for organizational issues in the state office, while the role of SPD Secretary General Nadja Lüders can still be seen at the political level, said Kuchaty. The office of the state manager had previously existed, but it had recently been vacant.

With the new appointment, the SPD wants to strengthen its strategic planning. It is about how the people in the country could be reached in the face of electoral and democratic fatigue. The SPD must set up itself organizationally in such a way that it is visible in all parts of the country and villages.

According to Kutschaty, the NRW-SPD will move back into their office in the new building on Kavalleriestraße in Düsseldorf this Friday. Due to the demolition of the old building and the new building, the party had moved into alternative quarters for a long time.
