North Rhine-Westphalia: Police renovated "Internet station": demo registration possible

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The police in North Rhine-Westphalia have renovated their "Internet watch", where you can continue to place ads, but now you can also register demos. This was announced by the Interior Ministry on Friday.

"Life is happening more and more in the digital world. A police force that is close to the people must therefore not only be present on the streets, but also on the Internet - around the clock and accessible to everyone," Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) was quoted as saying . The Internet watch is a "modern way for people in North Rhine-Westphalia to get in touch with the police." In emergencies, however, you should still dial 110, says Reul.

At the new address internetwache.polizei.nrw, you can file criminal charges as before, but you can also report anything suspicious or register a meeting. The "old" Internet watch already had increasing numbers: According to the ministry, around 110,000 transactions were received in 2019, and more than 240,000 in 2021.
