North Rhine-Westphalia: scolding from the district administrator: the mayor deletes the photo with the libertine

Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) - During the election campaign, the mayor of Halle deleted a photo with Hendrik Wüst (CDU) on social media after being scolded by the district administrator. As a paper from the municipal ministry to the state parliament shows, Halle's mayor Thomas Tappe (CDU) violated his duty of neutrality with the photo.

At the beginning of May, Tappe's party friend Wüst was a guest at the court of a CDU politician as a top candidate. The city of Halle documented this on its Facebook page, among other things. The post quickly disappeared. The SPD in the Düsseldorf state parliament wanted to know the background and made a small inquiry.

The answer from the state government now says: The Gütersloh district under District Administrator Sven-Georg Adenauer (CDU), as the supervisory authority, made it clear to the Mayor of Hall that he was violating his duty of neutrality in the election campaign by posting. According to the local ministry, Tappe was "asked to delete the publications immediately" - which he then did. Further steps by the state government were not necessary.

Incidentally, direct candidate Mechthild Frentrup, who Wüst was visiting at the time, lost. Your SPD opponent moved into the state parliament.
