North Rhine-Westphalia: Taxi driver races past traffic jams on hard shoulders

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - At more than 100 km/h, a taxi driver in Cologne drove past a traffic jam on the beach strip. Unfortunately for him, he overtook a police patrol who was patiently waiting in the traffic jam on the A57 on Thursday morning. According to their own statements, the police officers turned on the blue lights and sirens and pursued the taxi driver. But only when he had to brake because of the increasing traffic could the officials catch up, the police said. The 61-year-old taxi driver had to hand in his driver's license and passenger transport license. He did not have a passenger in the car.
