Bonn (dpa / lnw) - The traditional Advent concert of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in Bonn Cathedral will be broadcast live on Saturday evening (8:15 p.m.) on WDR television. The hosts are Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) and WDR director Tom Buhrow, as the State Chancellery and the broadcaster announced. The WDR Funkhausorchester performs the concert together with the Cologne Cathedral Vocal Ensemble, the Cologne Cathedral Choir, the Ukrainian violinist Diana Tishchenko and the Russian soprano Olga Peretyatko.
"Especially in difficult times we need art and culture. Music creates community and cohesion, music gives hope. It connects and overcomes borders in our heads and hearts," said Wüst. The 500 invited guests in the basilica as well as the TV viewers could look forward to a "high-class musical evening". According to the information, the program includes atmospheric arias, festive orchestral works and well-known Christmas carols.
