Port Talbot solicitor is charged with attempted murder

A solicitor was charged with trying to kill one of the directors of his firm.

Kevin Lane, 65 years old, was taken into custody at his home following a 911 call that a man had sustained a knife wound.

Rory McCreesh (31-year-old solicitor) was a director at Lane's Port Talbot company. He was discovered injured on the spot in Baglan, Neath Port Talbot.

He was admitted to the hospital for a non-life-threatening injury. Since then, he has been released.

Later, Mr Lane appeared before Swansea magistrates and was taken into custody.

"Kevin Lane (65 years old), from Baglan in Port Talbot has been charged [with attempt[ed] to murder and has been taken into custody," Det. Insp Gareth Jones of South Wales Police stated.

"Both of us are acquainted to one another and we aren't looking for anyone else in relation to what happened."

32 years ago, Mr Lane founded his successful business and now has offices in two renovated terraced houses in the centre of town.

According to the company, it feels a "real connection" to the community. It sponsors local rugby and football teams and supports charities.

According to its website, Mr McCreesh was a solicitor in 2016, after he studied law at Cardiff University.

He says that he is a coach for the Boys Club of Wales under-17 team and plays in the Welsh League Division 1 football league.

The company's offices remain open and Mr McCreesh is back at work. Lane & Co declined comment on the stabbing or Mr Lane's appearance in court.

Mr Lane was taken into custody and will be appearing at Swansea Crown Court, 25 July.
