Saxony-Anhalt is struggling for teachers. The size of the problems is shown again by the most recent round of tenders. It's about the number of applicants and qualifications.
Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The response to the most recent major advertisement for teaching positions in Saxony-Anhalt has again remained subdued. 944 positions at general schools were offered, 220 applicants expressed their interest, as the Ministry of Education in Magdeburg announced when asked. Among the applicants were 101 trained teachers and teachers in preparatory service.
Many interested parties submitted applications for different positions. Nevertheless, according to the information, 449 positions at general schools remained without an application. And of the 174 advertised positions for which there is an allowance due to the difficulty in filling them, 102 remained uninterested.
A ministry spokesman explained: "Jobs without applications can now be found in all regions and school types alike. It is no longer possible to single out certain subjects that are particularly difficult to fill. The entire range of subjects is now affected by the shortage."
In the large round of advertisements, 52 positions were offered for vocational schools. 67 applicants submitted 215 applications. No position remained without an interested party, it said. Of the 67 applicants, 10 are trained teachers or are currently in training.
According to the ministry, the positions that remained without applicants have now been advertised again. The state school board is continuously offering positions.
