Saxony-Anhalt: Left faction: Eva von Angern remains sole chairwoman

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Eva von Angern was confirmed on Tuesday as chairwoman of the left-wing faction in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt. According to a spokesman for the parliamentary group, the 45-year-old received ten yes votes and two no votes in the election. Stefan Gebhardt was also confirmed in office as parliamentary manager and Thomas Lippmann and Christina Buchheim as parliamentary group deputies. According to the spokesman, all received ten yes votes and two no votes.

With the personnel list, the parliamentary group opposes a decision by the state party. In March, the delegates asked the parliamentary group to form a dual leadership. Eva von Angern has been the sole leader of the parliamentary group since the state elections in June 2021. Before the election date, von Angern led the parliamentary group as part of a dual leadership with the former trade unionist Lippmann.

After the poor performance in the state elections, there was some criticism of the work of the state parliamentary group. Von Angern rejected this. The new election of the parliamentary group leadership was planned for the left parliamentary group by statute one year after the election date.
