Saxony: Energy crisis also hits Saxony's culture: Left warns

Dresden (dpa/sn) - The energy price explosion in the wake of the Ukraine war is also having an impact on cultural institutions in Saxony. They have to spend more money on materials, for example in restoration and theater workshops, for equipment and logistics or paper costs for publications, as can be seen from the response from the Ministry of Culture to a request from Left Party MP Franz Sodann. External services such as supervision and security services are also more expensive. So far, however, no increase in admission prices is planned in the state houses - "but it cannot be ruled out in the future".

It is then assumed that the situation in municipal and private cultural offerings is "similarly bad". He also expects price increases, while inflation is forcing many households to save. This will also be at the expense of culture, which has not yet recovered from the consequences of Corona. The Free State must prevent cultural institutions from being closed, then appealed.
