The "Witznitz Energy Park" - according to the company, one of the largest solar parks in Europe - is to extend over the communities of Neukieritzsch, Böhlen and Rötha am Hainer See (Leipzig district). Around 1.1 million solar modules are to be installed by the second quarter of 2023. According to the information, around 200,000 four-person households can be supplied with this. The final building permit for the project is still pending.

Saxony's Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) and State Secretary for the Environment Gerd Lippold will be present at the groundbreaking ceremony. The new energy park will make a significant contribution to achieving the goals of the coal phase-out in 2038 and the energy and climate program in Saxony, it was said in advance. The solar park is operated and developed by Moveon Energy. According to a statement on Tuesday, Signal Iduna and the financial subsidiary Hansainvest Real Assets are acquiring the planned energy park. The total investment volume was estimated at a mid three-digit million amount.
