Saxony: The process continues with an anthropological report

Dresden (dpa/sn) - The trial against the alleged left-wing extremist Lina E. and three co-defendants continued on Wednesday at the Higher Regional Court in Dresden with an anthropological report. It is intended to clarify whether the accused student Lina E. was on a regional train to Wurzen on February 15, 2020, where several people were later beaten by hooded people with batons and kicks. Cameras had photographed a person on the train and on a platform at Leipzig Central Station wearing a bobble hat, glasses and scarf, and behind whom the investigators suspect Lina E.

Expert Kristin Funke, who runs a practice for forensic anthropology, was already able to determine in the first part of her presentation that the person on the train matched many of the comparison images by Lina E. A final assessment was still pending until the afternoon.

In the process, the student Lina E. (27) from Kassel and three men from Leipzig and Berlin are on trial. The federal prosecutor accuses them of beating up members of the right-wing scene in Leipzig, Wurzen and Eisenach between 2018 and 2020. They are also accused of forming a criminal organization, of which Lina E. is seen as the head. The defense considers this accusation to be fabricated and speaks of a "politicized procedure". All four have so far remained silent on the allegations.
