The little patients at the Sydney Children's Hospital probably never expected this: Superstar Ed Sheeran suddenly appears in the clinic and plays his hits. A special surprise awaited a girl.
British superstar Ed Sheeran is currently touring Australia with his "The Mathematics" tour. The singer has so far taken little rest between trips and performances, instead visiting children's hospitals and singing for the children, their parents and staff.
"Thank you Ed Sheeran for stopping by today and creating wonderful memories for our patients and families," Sydney Children's Hospital said in an Instagram post. "Be it by singing your famous tunes, answering all the questions, or taking selfies with everyone present." An accompanying clip shows the singer and guitar during his hospital visit. You can also see the enthusiastic children clapping along to his songs, asking him questions through the microphone or taking photos with him.
A week ago, Sheeran also stopped at the Queensland Children's Hospital. An Instagram clip shows him serenading a young girl in her patient's room during his surprise visit.
In another post, which included pictures of the celebrity visitor, who was casual in a white shirt, green shorts and sneakers, the hospital said: "A big heartfelt thank you to the amazing Ed Sheeran. Thank you for the memories you created today - and all the best for the rest of your tour. Come by anytime. And a belated Happy Birthday too!" On February 17, the musician celebrated his 32nd birthday.
According to the station's "Today Show", a patient was in for a special surprise: she was allowed to sing with Ed Sheeran. "The cameraman told him I could sing, so I just started singing," she told the TV show. "It was the best thing I've experienced in my entire life. Meeting Ed Sheeran was amazing."
These aren't the first concerts Sheeran has given to his youngest fans. At the beginning of February he had already surprised children in several schools in Auckland, New Zealand.
