Thuringia: 11,500 apartments not yet completed at the end of 2021

Erfurt (dpa/th) - In Thuringia, 11,500 approved apartments were not yet completed last year. That roughly corresponds to the number at the end of 2020, the State Statistical Office announced on Tuesday in Erfurt. Within ten years, however, the number of approved and uncompleted apartments has almost doubled (2011: 6000 apartments). No statements could be made as to the reasons for this.

According to the building regulations, the project must be started within three years, otherwise the permit expires again. Almost two-thirds (63.6 percent) of the apartments not yet completed by the end of 2021 were reportedly approved before 2021 - including 18.7 percent in 2018 and earlier.

According to the statisticians, the construction of 4,692 new apartments was approved in the Free State last year. Most of the construction projects that were not completed related to apartments in new buildings.
