Thuringia: ATM in bank in Elxleben blown up: perpetrators fled

Elxleben (dpa/th) - Three unknown perpetrators blew up an ATM in Elxleben (Sömmerda district) and escaped with the loot. The thieves pried open the door of the local bank on Erfurterstrasse on Tuesday night and thus gained access to the branch, the police said on Tuesday morning. Accordingly, they then blew up the ATM and fled with their loot in a car. Despite an immediate search and the use of a helicopter, the three perpetrators were able to escape with the cash boxes. How much money the thieves stole could not be said at first.
