Thuringia: further problems in rail traffic due to staff shortages

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Staff shortages in signal boxes continue to slow down train traffic in Thuringia. Regional traffic connections from Erfurt in the direction of northern Thuringia are affected, as Deutsche Bahn announced on Tuesday. From Wednesday to Friday, trains on the RB 52 and RE 55/56 (Erfurt-Nordhausen) lines will only run to Erfurt-Gispersleben from the start of operations until 12:20 p.m. Buses run as a replacement between Erfurt main station and Gispersleben. On line RE 2 (Erfurt-Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe), the trains between Erfurt and Bad Langensalza will be diverted, and the stop in Döllstädt will be omitted.

There had already been train cancellations and diversions in regional transport in the past few days. Deutsche Bahn pointed out that highly specialized specialists in the signal boxes would be difficult to replace in the short term in the event of illness.
