Thuringia: New boss for Thuringia tourism in office

Erfurt (dpa / th) - Christoph Gösel should give Thuringia tourism new impetus. The tourism manager, who was born in Nordhausen, officially started on Monday as managing director of Thüringer Tourismus GmbH (TTG), as announced by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

He succeeds the South Tyrolean Franz Hofmann, who terminated his contract prematurely at the end of the year. According to the ministry, Gösel won the job posting among around 70 applicants nationwide. The decision was made at the end of September.

According to the ministry, Gösel has been working in leading positions in tourism marketing in Thuringia for around 20 years. Most recently he was managing director of Kultourstadt Gotha GmbH. At TTG, he now heads a team of around 60 employees. The national company is responsible for the national and international marketing of Thuringia as a travel destination. It also provides digital services for Thuringian tourism and takes care of innovation and quality.

Economics Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee explained: "We want to readjust the work of the TTG and use the year 2023 to restart tourism after the past crisis years." Gösel knows the country and its people and will network the work of the tourism company more closely with those responsible in the regions. In view of the corona and energy crises, tourism continues to operate in a difficult environment.

Gösel, born in 1973, has a contract with an initial term of three years. He studied business administration in Jena.
