Thuringia: So far 657,000 property tax returns - hotline switched off

Erfurt (dpa/th) - According to the Ministry of Finance, around 657,000 declarations for property tax were received in Thuringia by the turn of the year. That corresponds to 52.6 percent of the expected 1.25 million property tax returns, the Ministry of Finance announced on Monday on request. 86 percent of the declarations were received online. In view of the difficulties many property owners complained about, the Federal Ministry of Finance had extended the submission deadline until the end of January 2023.

In Thuringia, the central telephone hotline was switched off at the turn of the year, and telephone inquiries are now possible at the eleven tax offices in the state. The final digits 780 must be dialed there. According to the ministry, the changeover should help to better deal with specific case-related questions. There had been a lot of criticism because of the overload and the often poor accessibility of the central hotline.
