Baden-Württemberg: Europa-Park survives Corona: over six million visitors

Rust (dpa / lsw) - Visitor record at Europa-Park: Over six million people came to Germany's largest amusement park last year, more than ever before. The park sees the record as a "huge vote of confidence," explained founder and shareholder Roland Mack on Monday in Rust (Ortenaukreis). The family entrepreneur had already announced the record at the end of last year. The approximately 5,800 beds in the park's hotel complex were often fully booked in the past year.

Before the corona pandemic, the park in southern Baden welcomed over 5.7 million people in 2019. In 2020 and 2021 there were significant declines due to Corona.

In the year that has just begun, Europa-Park expects energy costs to rise. According to Mack's earlier information, ticket prices should therefore increase by around five percent. According to the online booking system, a standard day ticket costs at least 57.50 euros from March.

The park employs more than 4,500 people. The search for new employees continues to be a major issue: "We already have around 300 Ukrainians working for us (...)", said Mack. Several hundred employees come from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. "We have built 1,200 employee apartments, rented hotels and set up high-quality container villages," summed up the park manager.

The winter season in Rust ends on January 15th. The summer season then begins on March 25th. The Rulantica water attraction and the hotel complex will remain open throughout.
