Leinefelde-Worbis/Nordhausen (dpa/th) - After the collision of two cars on the federal highway 247 near Kallmerode in Eichsfeld, a woman died. The 68-year-old succumbed to her serious injuries in the hospital, as the police in Nordhausen announced on Friday. The 18-year-old driver of the other car was also taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Two helicopters were used for the rescue.
For reasons that have not yet been clarified, one of the cars ran into oncoming traffic on Thursday afternoon on the bypass of Kallmerode, which belongs to Leinefelde-Worbis. The exact cause of the accident has yet to be clarified. The federal highway remained completely closed for more than three hours after the accident.
