Work from home: craftsmen obliged to announce their prices on their website

The text was published on Saturday in the Official Journal. From April 1, 2017, it will require professionals working in the homes of individuals for work, such as plumbers or locksmiths, to display their prices on the internet, if they have a site.

This information must include the hourly labor rate, the methods of counting the estimated time, the prices of the fixed services, the travel expenses, or the free or paid nature of the estimate. They should already, for the most part, be communicated to the consumer before any service. This information "must also be easily accessible on any online communication space dedicated to the professional", indicates the text.

This decree also provides that before any work, the professionals must provide the client with a detailed document containing this information. They must have already been specified in the documents called "repair order" and "quote".

According to data from the Fraud Prevention Department (DGCCRF), the home repair activity is one of the main items for registering complaints. In September, the latter conducted an awareness campaign, intended to inform consumers about the practices of certain home repair professionals who take advantage of their vulnerability to deceive them.
