Shock for BVB record purchase: tumor discovered in Haller's testicles

Sebastien Haller has just moved from Ajax Amsterdam to Dortmund for a record sum, now he has to leave the training camp: During a medical examination, doctors find a tumor.

Shock for Sebastien Haller: A tumor was discovered in the testicles of the new goalscorer of the Bundesliga soccer team Borussia Dortmund. BVB announced this late Monday evening. "This news was a shock for Sebastien Haller and for all of us. The entire BVB family wishes Sebastien that he will recover completely as soon as possible and that we can hug him again soon," said sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

Haller complained about being unwell after training on Monday morning in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland. The tumor was discovered during intensive medical examinations during the course of the day. The 28-year-old has already traveled back to Dortmund. "We will do everything in our power to ensure that he receives the best possible treatment," said Kehl. In the coming days, further examinations will take place in a specialized medical center.

Dortmund signed Haller this summer as a replacement for Erling Haaland from Ajax Amsterdam. With a base fee of 31 million euros, it was one of the most expensive transfers in the club's history for BVB. A similar sum was only paid for Mats Hummels in 2019.
