Bavaria: Association: the state of the railway infrastructure in Bavaria is disastrous

Eichstätt (dpa / lby) - In view of the many shortcomings, an interest group of private railway companies has criticized the routes of Deutsche Bahn (DB) in Bavaria. The rail network is in parts of Bavaria "in a disastrous condition," said the Mofair alliance on Monday. The association represents private railway companies such as Transdev or Go-Ahead. Deutsche Bahn could not initially be reached for comment on Monday. According to Mofair, trains would have to run much more slowly in many places because of the deficiencies, which is why the timetables could not be adhered to. However, DB Netz refuses to “set up realistic timetables”.

According to the information, the routes Freilassing - Berchtesgaden, Eichstätt - Weilheim/Schongau and the Bavarian Oberland network are particularly affected, operated by the Transdev subsidiary Bayerische Regiobahn.

At the beginning of August, the Regiobahn reported a route closure due to a track fault. Due to the vacation time and many sick leave, there were additional difficulties in organizing the rail replacement service. Last week, a signal box malfunction disrupted train traffic near Ingolstadt for hours. In addition to regional traffic, ICE connections were also affected.
