Suddenly on stage: Ozzy Osbourne makes a surprise appearance

Those declared dead live longer. This always applies to the "Prince of Darkness". So, despite all the health issues that have plagued him for a number of years, Ozzy Obourne is actually returning to the stage. He performs in Birmingham with former Black Sabbath colleague Tony Iommi.

Numerous fans have been concerned about heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne in recent months. After all, the ex-Black Sabbath frontman only had to undergo serious surgery in Los Angeles in June. Now, however, the 73-year-old has surprisingly celebrated his stage comeback in his hometown of Birmingham. The singer performed in front of 30,000 spectators together with Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi.

The "Prince of Darkness" and his former bandmate Iommi performed their iconic hit "Paranoid" from 1970, probably the rockers' most famous number, at the closing ceremony of the 22nd Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. A short video of the performance can also be seen on the sporting event's official Twitter account.

The surprise gig marks Osbourne's first live performance after nearly two years of hiatus. Most recently, he gave a concert in Mannheim in November 2020. After Osbourne had the operation in June, his wife Sharon calmed down with the information that the musician is doing better. Ozzy Osbourne himself finally turned to his fans: "I'm out of the hospital and at home now and recovering well."

Ozzy Osbourne has suffered from serious neck health problems since an accident involving a quad vehicle in 2003. At the beginning of January 2020, he also announced that he had Parkinson's disease. In April 2022, to make matters worse, he also had to survive a corona infection.

Despite all health problems, Osbourne is not only drawn back to the stage. His 13th solo album will be released in a month. The work, entitled "Patient Number 9," will also feature guest musicians such as Eric Clapton, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith and Metallica's Robert Trujillo.
