At Ivana's funeral: Barron Trump makes a rare appearance

Public appearances by Donald Trump's youngest son Barron are rare. The 16-year-old has not been featured in the media since leaving the White House. He is now also attending Ivana Trump's funeral service alongside his parents.

Barron Trump is rarely seen. The only child of former US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania does not often appear in public. However, the youngest child attended the funeral service for Ivana Trump, his father's ex-wife, with his parents.

The funeral service was held last Wednesday at a church in Manhattan, New York City. Photos show the 16-year-old alongside his parents and the rest of the Trump family on the steps of the church. Like his father, Barron Trump wore a dark suit and tie.

Ivana Trump died unexpectedly on July 14 at the age of 73. She was Donald Trump's first wife and they were married from 1977 to 1992. Their children Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka and Eric were also there with their partners and children.

Unlike her mother, Tiffany Trump, the ex-president's daughter from his second marriage to Marla Maples, was also invited. She came accompanied by her partner Michael Boulos and also paid her last respects to the deceased. Donald Trump had left Ivana for Marla Maples. The Czech-born only called her successor "this woman" or "the showgirl" until the end of her life.

Not many expected Melania Trump's presence either. She and Ivana are said not to have gotten along well - at least the latter always used her rare interviews to tease the Slovenian. In 2017, for example, she described herself as "First Lady" because she was "after all, the first Trump woman".

Ivana Trump's death was confirmed by her children on social media. A coroner later announced the cause of death. She had died as a result of an accident. US media consistently reported a fall down the stairs.
