Her young son was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and died. It quickly becomes clear that the boy was abused by her partner. The district court is trying to find out whether the mother is partly to blame - and now wants to make a judgment.
Ellwangen (dpa / lsw) - After the violent death of her abused son, the judgment against a 37-year-old mother is expected on Thursday (9:00 a.m.). The almost two-year-old was hit by her partner at the time in October 2021 in Bopfingen (Ostalbkreis) and killed as a result. The defendant is accused of mistreatment of wards by omission. She confessed at the beginning of the trial.
The public prosecutor accuses the mother of having left her deceased son in the care of her partner between September and the end of October 2021, although she knew that he was mistreating the boy. The child died in a hospital on October 21, 2021 after numerous injuries. In May, the partner was sentenced to 14 years in prison by the Ellwangen Regional Court for manslaughter and severe abuse of those under his protection.
On the second and last day of the trial, two witnesses are to be heard. Prosecutors and defense must also plead.
