Baden-Württemberg: E-bike driver injured after theft while fleeing the police

Muellheim (dpa/lsw) - An e-bike rider was critically injured while fleeing the police in Muellheim (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district). The 48-year-old, who was probably drunk, had previously committed a theft in a gas station, the police said on Wednesday.

When the officers arrived, the man is said to have fled on an e-bike. After he ignored several requests to stop and is said to have endangered road users, an officer from the police patrol stood in front of the fugitives. The 48-year-old fell off the e-bike and suffered serious head injuries. The man was taken to hospital by paramedics Tuesday night for treatment.

The criminal police first determined how exactly the fall had happened and looked for witnesses.
