Freiburg (dpa / lsw) - A woman set fire to the entrance area of the district court in Freiburg. The police said they spilled gasoline at the gate on Wednesday morning and set it on fire. Two employees of the judiciary were injured by heavy smoke, another employee suffered a shock. At least one injured person was taken to a hospital. The fire brigade was able to quickly extinguish the fire and thus prevent major damage. But there was soot and smoke damage.
The suspect fled after the crime, but turned herself in with a lawyer at a Freiburg police station in the afternoon. The motive of the woman was initially unclear. She should be questioned by officials. A police spokesman said she had a "previous relationship" with the district court. He was initially unable to provide any details.
Sessions were suspended because of the fire. The building was partially cleared, according to investigators.
