Baden-Württemberg: Man attacks visitors to a market

Bietigheim-Bissingen (dpa/lsw) - A 22-year-old man attacked and injured passers-by at a market in Bietigheim-Bissingen (Ludwigsburg district) on Sunday evening. According to the police on Monday, he was allegedly in a mental state of emergency and under the influence of drugs when he first ran across the market with scissors in his hands. Shortly thereafter, he threw stones at several market visitors, injuring at least one person. Another person sustained injuries from a punch.

The 22-year-old fled, but was temporarily arrested in a backyard. He fought back and slightly injured an officer. Later was taken to a psychiatric hospital. There he spat on and threatened a male nurse. The police are now investigating, among other things, because of dangerous bodily harm.
