Baden-Württemberg: SAP works council chief criticizes saving on business trips

The Dax group SAP saves on internal business trips. Works council chief Eberhard Schick criticizes this - and worries about new colleagues.

Walldorf (dpa / lsw) - SAP works council chief Eberhard Schick has criticized the software group's cost-cutting measures on internal business trips. "The Corona travel savings will be taken and now stabilized," said Schick of the German Press Agency. According to Schick, trips are limited to those to customers and partners. A spokesman for the Dax group based in Walldorf (Rhein-Neckar district) confirmed this on request.

The savings are great, said Schick. SAP has included these in its profit forecasts and wants to achieve them. "The austerity measures were announced in July. We are curious to see whether this will also apply beyond the turn of the year," said Schick.

Schick demanded that management must consider a long-term strategy for dealing with this block of expenditure. It is important that you see and know each other personally within the departments and teams - which are often scattered around the world at SAP. After a joint team event in person, you work much better together. "I see the danger, especially with new colleagues, that they will not bond so strongly to the company emotionally," said Schick. "Was all travel unnecessary in the past?" asked Schick. "Some maybe, but certainly not all."
