Baden-Württemberg: The construction and car sectors drive Berner's business

Künzelsau (dpa/lsw) - The Berner retail group has benefited from strong demand from the construction and automotive sectors. The medium-sized company based in Künzelsau (Hohenlohekreis) increased its sales by 7.8 percent to 1.1 billion euros in the period from April 2021 to March 2022, as the company announced on Thursday. No information was given about the win. Despite many upheavals on the supply markets and bottlenecks at the logisticians, it was possible to increase the proceeds to an all-time high.

Berner is Würth's much smaller competitor. The medium-sized company with around 8,200 employees worldwide sells, among other things, tools and equipment for craftsmen and workshops as well as cleaning agents. For the current financial year, the medium-sized company has so far recorded a different development. "We're only growing half as fast in the construction sector as in the automotive sector," explained CEO Christian Berner. The well-known obstacles such as rising building interest rates and significant price increases for building materials did not remain without consequences for demand. But there is no reason to correct the forecast. "We want to gain market share."
